A MEDITATION

“ When we are invited to a banquet, we take what is set before us; and were one to call upon his host to set fish or tarts before him, he would be deemed absurd. Yet, in the world, we ask the gods for what they do not give, and that, though they have given us so many things.

— Epictetus

A reflection

At a real dinner you don't demand the kitchen remake the menu. But with life you stand at the table insisting on items that were never offered. Eat what's served; the gratitude for what arrived will keep you fuller than the complaint about what didn't.
